French Bread

While the kids were here last week, the little girls decided they would like spaghetti.  They wanted to pick fresh basil from my herb pot and add it to the sauce.  I thought homemade french bread would go well with our delicious sauce.

I used the recipe from the Lion House Baking recipe book.  It was very easy and turned out nice and crusty on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside.

Sawtell Hike

The intrepid hikers (except Lily), she was carried most of the way by Andrew, Shelley and Alan.  Still worried about snakes I guess.

We were up so high that there was still a patch of snow.

A little snack and drink break.
Look hard and you will see the Tetons in the far background.

This is from the top of Sawtell Peak to which we drove.  As Jane Austen would say,  It was a fair prospect.

A Decor Change!

This chair used to be white with a green plastic seat.  The bookcase was a cream color.

The new seat on the chair is from fabric that I got from Mom years ago.  I wonder which of my sisters had a dress made out of this fabric.

Whitney also painted the bed which used to be white.

The walls have been painted a light gray and the bed is covered with the completed "Swoon" quilt.  Now we just need to put some things on the walls and put in a new wood floor (when Jim gets a chance) and we have an updated cute guest room.

Georgette Heyer Strikes Again

Sadly (or happily depending on whether you talk to me or to Jim), Banner has been bitten by the Georgette Heyer bug.  She came to me last week for a fun book,  I of course recommended a Georgette. Faro's Daughter to be exact.  She devoured it in a day and a half (if attendance at school hadn't been required, it would have taken less time) and has now moved on to Arabella.  Whatever room I go into today, it is there, in the hands of an enthralled teenager.  It reminds me of the good old days of reading Georgette Heyer's books for the first time.  Well, I guess we know what Banner will be doing this summer.

28 Years Later!

We have been very blessed in our 28 years of marriage. Four smart, beautiful daughters, a home, employment and good health. We are grateful for the gospel which gives us strength to handle our trials. Here's hoping we're blessed with 28 more fantastic years.
