It's Spring!

We started our spring clean-up of the yard today. We found this nest on the ground under the big willow tree. Banner put it in the the little crab apple tree so we could take a picture.

Banner and her friend Ashley, cleaning up twigs and leaves in the front yard. These girls were a big help.

Jim doing the same in the side yard.

Our big pile ready to burn.

Jim is protecting "Buck" from the inferno.

Banner used this sled to carry twigs off the deck.

Tennyson with some logs off our fence that has collapsed in a few places. Jim wants to tear it out this year.

The flames are out. "Buck" is safe.

Tennyson practicing her golf swing for her golf date with her Dad.

The lilac bush has started to bud out. There was a light breeze, that's why it's blurry. It couldn't be because of me or my camera.

Jim and Tennyson left for Millsite(where you "pee" over the dam) and Banner and Ashley went to the pool so I decided to bake banana bread. Before he left, Jim had asked me why we keep fruit and vegetables until they're petrified. I say my petrified bananas are perfect for banana bread. A year ago I was at Ace Hardware and I found these little loaf pans. They reminded me of Mom and when she would let us make little loaves of bread. So, here are my cute little loaves, I thought they would be perfect for Leah and Essie, too bad they're not here.

Maybe when everyone is down for Easter we can make some more bread in the little pans.

Here are the big loaves baking. They will be perfect for an after swimming/golfing snack.

Now I can practice my knitting. Lizzy said she thought about my work and realized that my technique was all wrong. I was casting on wrong, sticking my right needle in wrong and wrapping my yarn around the needle wrong. This is the perfect opportunity to work on all my wrongs. If I fix my problems, Becky might get this lovely dishcloth at her shower.

Just for your information, we got Tennyson's car out of the shop yesterday. Little Red Riding Hood was kind of banged up after Tennyson ran into a "deer friend" two weeks ago but she is home now and looks better that ever. What would we do without comprehensive coverage?

We will be putting a new fence in at sometime. Ours is rotting and falling down! So annoying!! I do so wish we were there for banana bread.

Who are you saving Buck for anyway, Banner? Isn't the ceremonial cleaning up of the yard fun. It means Spring has sprung. Can't wait to come down in a few weeks and see you all.

The Schauerhamers

What a good day, it actually reminds me of being on the farm in spring. Cleaning the yard, and then getting a little treat at the end of the day. I can't wait to see you all at Easter. It will be nice to get away for a little while.
